Weekly Commentary:
The first rankings for the hilarious women of supporting actress (limited) have been released with Niecy Nash-Betts sitting in the top spot for Netflix’s “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” along with Claire Danes close behind for FX’s “Fleishman is in Trouble.”
We said farewell to ABC’s “The Goldbergs” this week, and hoping the TV Academy will finally remember that Wendi McLendon-Covey’s memorable Beverly has never been nominated, and it’s time she is.
Category switches and scoops included Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” moving back to structured reality and the TV Academy denying Apple’s “Schmigadoon!” switch to scripted variety from comedy series.
Down below, you can see the first projections for outstanding reality competition, structured, host, short form (comedy, drama, variety)
The writers’ strike will obviously have great implications for the industry and the Emmy season. NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” was delayed indefinitely when Kieran Culkin and Jennifer Coolidge were set to take the stage.
Emmy Nominations voting runs from June 15-26. The Primetime Emmy nominations will be announced on July 12. Check back every Thursday for the latest updates. All information is preliminary and is subject to change.

About the Primetime Emmy Awards
The Primetime Emmy Awards, better known as the Emmys, are given out by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS). Since 1949, the awards have recognized excellence in American primetime television programming. They are divided into three classes – Primetime Emmy Awards, the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards (honors artisan achievements), and the Primetime Engineering Emmy Awards (recognizes significant engineering and technological contributions). The typical eligibility period is between June 1 and May 31 of any given year. The Television Academy comprises over 25,000 members, representing 30 professional peer groups, including performers, directors, producers, art directors, artisans, and executives.
Emmy Nominations voting runs from June 15-26. The Primetime Emmy nominations will be announced on July 12. Check back every Thursday for the latest updates. All information is preliminary and is subject to change.
